Pixelmon has become the laughing stock of crypto Twitter after raising $70M USD to deliver what was promised to be “the largest and highest quality game the NFT space has ever seen," only to deliver disappointing in-game art. Pixelmon founder Syber, who was revealed to be a 19-year-old New Zealand streamer with no relevant game development experience, promised to build a AAA-quality Web3 game that involves catching and trading Pixelmon creatures.
Users paid 3 ETH (~$9,200) to mint a Pixelmon, and the floor has now dropped to around 0.4 ETH.
Allegations are that the Pixelmon team just bought the art off Unity marketplace.
