GoFundMe suspended a fundraiser that was collecting money for Canadian truckers last night, causing widespread outrage across the internet 🇨🇦
Over $10 million had been donated to the campaign before the suspension which was stopped “to ensure it complies with terms of service and applicable laws and regulations” 🤔
GoFundMe are holding the money and said donors would only see their donations refunded if they specifically requested it. Otherwise, it would be forwarded to another cause of GoFundMe’s choice 🥷
In response to this abuse of power, the truckers are now raising money through Bitcoin donations and have already received over 2 BTC in less than 48 hours 🚛
This is yet another example of why centralised entities cannot be relied on to act in the best interests of the average citizen. Don’t trust, verify. Bitcoin is fair and equal money for everyone
