"Violence in any form is poisonous and destructive. My actions at the Academy Awards last night were unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes about me are part of my job, but jokes about Jada's medical condition are too much. It was overdone and I reacted emotionally.
I want to publicly apologize to you Chris. I crossed the line and I was wrong. I was ashamed of myself and the actions I took were not the actions of the person I wanted to be. In a world of love and kindness, there is no place for violence.
I also apologize to the Academy and Awards Producers and attendees and viewers around the world.
I also apologize to the Williams and King Richards. I worry that what might have been a beautiful journey for us might not have been stained by my actions.
I am still in the process of improving and getting better.
