On Friday, Buzzfeed published an investigative report revealing the identities of two of the four BAYC co-founders - who up until recently remained anonymous. The company behind BAYC, Yuga Labs, confirmed their identities after BuzzFeed's report.
The Web3 community was angry at Buzzfeed for doxxing (exposing the identities) of two of the founders. Many in the space blasted Buzzfeed for their unethical practices - while others believed it is standard business practice.
We personally like to invest in projects with public teams. As we've said multiple times - we generally require founders and teams to have a reputation on the line if we are to invest in their projects. However - we also don't believe it was Buzzfeed's place to publicly reveal the BAYC founders' identities. That shouldn't be their decision to do so.
