Charibis, the daughter of Poseidon and Gaia, was a huge bag of creatures with a face full of mouths and arms and legs made of fins. She swallowed huge amounts of water three times a day before creating a whirlpool that could sink a large ship. She was often depicted with Scylla on the other side of the narrow strait.
