I think the ending was totally justified. The point of this story was to show us that there are few people we meet in our lifetime who end up meaning a lot to us and even if we don't remain in touch, we always root for them and wish them well. I especially got really moved with the way they portrayed it via Hee Do and Yi Jin's relationship. The scene where they bid each other goodbye and Yi Jin ties her shoelace was really hard for me to take- I bawled my eyes out. I too can think of some people I've drifted apart from because life happened and I didn't get proper closure. With Hee Do receiving her lost diary back at least they could get the closure they deserved. But I'm really hoping TVN shoots a special episode where we can see adult Yi Jin and his family life for he deserves a happy ending and would love if they continue the story now with Min Chae and Yi Jin's son as the leads much like the movie The Classic
